The effect dealcoholized extract of acorus calamus leaves (Acorus calamus L.) on the behavior of animals under reserpin-induced depression

Abstract

Depression is a mental disorder characterized by a pathologically low mood with a negative, pessimistic self-assessment, one's position in the surrounding reality, one's past and future. For the treatment of such patients, antidepressants with different mechanisms of action are widely used. However, many antidepressants have several side effects, including hepatotoxic reactions, gastropathy, gastrointestinal bleeding, etc. The use of phytopreparations is promising in this direction. Our study aimed to investigate the effect of dealcoholized extract of acorus calamus leaves (Acorus calamus L.) (DEAL) on locomotor activity and tentative research activities of experimental animals with reserpine-induced depression.
