Mental health and burnout of healthcare workforce: theoretical and methodological approach

Abstract

Розглянуто особливості прояву професійного вигорання та психічного здоров’я у медичних та фармацевтичних працівників, їх схожі та відмінні риси. Обґрунтовано актуалізацію проблеми професійного вигорання та необхідність ефективних методів управління працівниками в охороні здоров’я, у тому числі під час екстремальних умов (пандемії, військовий стан). У статті були визначені обмеження та проблеми, пов'язані з дослідженням ефективності інтервенцій для підтримки психічного здоров'я медичних працівників та принципи, які потрібно враховувати при менеджменті персоналу в галузі охорони здоров’я. Основні фактори, які збільшували або зменшували ризик несприятливих психологічних наслідків у медичних працівників було визначено.

The features of the manifestation of professional burnout and mental health of medicines and pharmacists, their similarities and differences are considered. The article substantiates the actualization of the problem of professional burnout and the need for effective methods of managing employees in health care, especially during extreme working conditions (pandemics, martial law). Limitations and challenges associated with the research concerning the effectiveness of interventions to support the mental health of the healthcare workforce and principles to consider when managing personnel in the healthcare sector were identified. Factors that increased or decreased the risk of adverse psychological outcomes in healthcare workers were investigated.
