The role of pharmacists in the formation of patient adherence to the treatment of hypertension

Abstract

The data obtained during the study indicate a steady upward trend in the rates of cardiovascular morbidity in our region, which is primarily due to the high prevalence of arterial hypertension. Our research shows a low level of adherence to treatment among patients with hypertension. In addition, the effectiveness of treatment of hypertension remains quite low and amounts to only 43%. To improve the quality of primary health care for patients with hypertension, close cooperation between a doctor, pharmacist and patient is required at all stages of antihypertensive therapy.
