Abstract: The effect of stimulation of the biological response and the formation of toxic compounds in the subsequent resistance in these organisms to high doses of the same toxicant was firstly described in 1880 in the Hugo Schulz and Rudolf Arndt yeasts. Later, this phenomenon was called a hormesis effect.
