Abstract: Conclusions: Recombinant interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (15 mg/kg) does not influence the basal blood flow in the internal carotid arteries of rats, but significantly (almost in 3 times) weakens its reduction in occlusion of both common carotid arteries followed by reperfusion. Markers of cerebroprotective effect of the medicine under research are the reduction of the acidic shift  in the blood flowing from the brain of animals with irreversible bilateral carotid occlusion, and the weakening of destruction of neurons in neuron-specific enolase activity. During the first day of bilateral carotid occlusion  in rats the concentration of  interleukin-1 in the blood  increases. ARIL-1 improves blood flow beginning with the first hour, decreases the concentration of interleukin-1. Piracetam does not influence the increase in the level of interleukin-1 on the model of cerebral ischemia. The results provide confirmation of the cerebroprotective effects of the receptor antagonist of interleukin-1, obtained by other authors 1 and are proved firstly on the base of neurons’ destruction marker — neuron-specific enolase. The results show the prospect of IL-1 receptors blockade as one of the cerebroprotective area and are experimental base for further deep study of ARIL-1 as a potential cerebroprotector in cerebral ischemia.
