Abstract: Oromucosal administration of drug offers several advantages over the traditional oral route. One of the most important among them is the ability of a drug to be rapidly absorbed through the oral mucosa and directly enter the systematic circulation, avoiding in such a way (at least, partially) the first-pass metabolism in the gastrointestinal tract.
